“One another”
27 March 2020
Did you know there are 59 ‘one another’ statements in the New Testament? That’s right, 59. That’s just under 60 exhortations in scripture to actually ‘do’ something towards another person. That’s one for every week, with a few left over!
These are behaviours we may do out of an overflow of our relationship with Jesus, but they are not things that we do solely unto Jesus. Other people must be involved in order to fulfil them. Here are 10 of them.
1. “…Be at peace with each other.” (Mark 9:50)
2. “…Wash one another’s feet.” (John 13:14)
3. “…Love one another…” (John 13:34)
4. “…Be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2)
5. “Be kind and compassionate to one another…” (Ephesians 4:32)
6. “…Pray for each other.” (James 5:16)
7. “…Love one another deeply, from the heart.” (I Peter 3:8)
8. “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love…” (Romans 12:10)
9. “…Honour one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10)
10. “Live in harmony with one another…” (Romans 12:16)
In our current circumstances we can now love one another in new and amazing ways.
Andy Stanley once said, “When everyone is sitting in rows…you can’t do any one anothers.”
Well, you’re not sitting in rows now, so …..
God bless.
Only Jesus,
